A stage reading of act one of The Dead Artist was held on April 9 at Moving Arts Theater in Los Angeles. It starred Zeke Rettman, Daria Balling, Michael Shutt, Brian Newkirk and Melissa Marie Thomas. Julie Briggs directed.
Mark studied under playwright Lee Wochner and is currently part of the Words That Speak Workshop.
From April 7-9, 2008, Mark’s original play, Juche Rules, was staged at East West Players Theater in Los Angeles as part of the USC MPW One-Act Festival. A distinguished panel of judges deemed Juche Rules the unanimous winner. Smith and Kraus publisher Lawrence Harbison described the play as “a story that cries out to be told.”
